A new series starring Beth Behrs and Kat Dennings premieres tonight on CBS. “2 Broke Girls,” a sitcom focused on the lives of two twenty-year-old waitresses in New York City.
Carolina (Behrs) who was originally born rich, but now isn’t doing so well financially, and Max (Dennings) who comes from a poor working-class family, works together at a restaurant based in Brooklyn. The two quickly become friends and begin to dream of one day opening a cupcake shop. The only problem is that they will need $250,000 to do it. The duo can barely afford anything on their salary, but continually find ways in which to make ends meet. At the end of each episode, a tally shows how much money they have earned so far for their seemingly unrealistic $250,000 goal.
TV critic Matthew Gilbert from The Boston Globe was highly impressed with the casting and production, and gave the series a B+.
The Washington Post on the other hand has given “2 Broke Girls” a C.
“2 Broke Girls” premieres tonight at 8:30 p.m. ET on CBS. The show will move to its regular time slot of 7:30 p.m. ET next week.
