While speaking at Comic Con, director Quentin Tarantino dropped some knowledge on fans about finally releasing Kill Bill in one single film.
Tarantino originally meant for Kill Bill to be a four-hour long epic film released into theaters, although it was eventually split into two volumes. He’s also been teasing the possibility to releasing the two volumes as one for many years, and now there’s a chance that may actually happen.
On the topic of a complete version of Kill Bill, dubbed The Whole Bloody Affair, Tarantino said “The Weinstein Company and myself were talking about actually coming out with it sometime, not before the year is out, but within the next year with limited theatrical engagement as well.”
The Whole Bloody Affair would be volumes one and two of Kill Bill edited together, as they were always meant to be seen.
The original version of the movie had an extended had an extended cut of the anime backstory of O-Ren Ishii, in addition to The Bride’s fight with the Crazy 88’s in full color.
The Whole Bloody Affair was actually shown at New Beverly Theater in 2011, but has been hard to find since. According to Tarantino’s statement, a few more theaters across the country would be privy to this new version, with a DVD/Blu-Ray release likely to follow at some point, perhaps sometime in 2015.
