Just seconds after the Baltimore Ravens won the 2013 Super Bowl, Ravens “Super Bowl Champions” t-shirts, hats, and other gear went on sale at Baltimore area stores and online.
Contacted on Friday, an employee at a Baltimore area Sports Authority confirmed that a number of their stores would be open immediately following the end of the game. She said they had Ravens Super Bowl gear in their inventory and ready to go if the Ravens win the game.
Stores she said she expected would be open included Catonsville, 410-788-9650, White Marsh, 410-931-2135, and Fredrick 301-696-0252. How late they would stay open will depend on crowds, said the employee, who did not want to be named in this story. The numbers are provided for calling before visiting to confirm openings.
She also said that Sports Authority stores in the area would open at 6am Monday morning. Sports Authority headquarters was contacted to confirm the above information, but did not respond by press time.
Modell’s Sporting Goods stores in the Baltimore area and select locations in Virginia are open after the Sunday night game as well.
Cary Butensky, Manager of Modell’s Store and Customer Service Call Centers, confirmed that Modell’s stores in Annapolis, Arundel Mills. Perring, and Reisterstown will be open after the Super Bowl if the Ravens win.
Anne Lacey Whitaker, PR Manager for Fanatics.com and FansEdge.com, told Consumer Press that their websites “will both have Super Bowl Championship merchandise available to order just minutes, if not seconds, following the game clock hitting zero.”
FootballFanatics.com customer service also reported to us that 2013 Super Bowl Championship gear would be available for ordering immediately after the game, though also said that there would take approximately a week before items are shipped.
Walmart did not get back to us before press time. After the BCS National Championship game last month, they had printers standing by and BCS Championship jerseys and hats were available in area stores the next morning.
It’s likely that they will do the same for the Super Bowl, but we have no confirmation of that at this time.
Surprisingly, NFLShop.com, the official store of the NFL, replied to our questions about the availability of Super Bowl Championship t-shirts and hats after the game by saying they had no way of knowing what their inventory would be ahead of time. hmmm. (update – minutes after the game, NFLShop.com has added Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl Champions merchandise to their site, including highlights of the Ravens Super Bowl XLVII winning season on DVD/Blu-Ray.)
