Red Nose Day TV Special: Time, Live Streaming, Celebrity Line-Up & More

Red Nose Day is this Thursday, May 21. To celebrate, NBC is hosting a 3-hour, star-packed, TV special in NYC at the Hammerstein Ballroom.

Red Nose Day is the brainchild of Richard Curtis, who started this event 30 years ago in the United Kingdom as a way of raising money for childhood poverty.

The annual event has raised over 1 billion in the UK so far by using comedy to entertain and encourage people to donate to this very serious cause; Curtis is also in charge of the US special and is hoping to make it a tradition here as well

Here is everything you need to know about the special, including the time, free live streaming options, celebrities scheduled to appear and more.

Time: 8 P.M. (EST) on NBC. The show will run 3-hours long and feature an equal mix of pre-recorded and live comedy sketches, musical numbers and other audience interactive skits.

Free Live Streaming options: Free live streaming is available on your PC from NBC.com and on your smartphone or tablet through the NBC app for iOS or Android .

Although these services are free, you will need to sign-in using a participating cable provider to access them.

Celebrity Line-Up:  There will be pre-recorder skits from  Julia Roberts, Liam Neeson, Richard Gere and Jodie Foster.

There is also a previously recorded ‘mockumentary” on the rock group Coldplay that creates a musical version of “Game of Thrones” and features about a dozen cast members from the hit HBO show.

Also scheduled to appear are:  Reese Witherspoon ,Martin Short, Ian McKellen, Paul Rudd, Neil Patrick Harris, Hugh Bonneville, Will Ferrell, \ Helen Mirren, Nick Offerman, Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, Elizabeth Banks, Jack Black, JohnLegend, Benedict Cumberbatch, Emily Blunt, Keith Urban, John Mellencamp, One Direction and “Voice” coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera and Pharrell Williams.

Over the past few weeks there have been several fundraising activities taking place to raise awareness and money for Red Nose Day: Walgreens has been selling Red noses at their stores, raising over $5 million; “Today” host Matt Lauer is currently  biking from Boston to New York (230 miles) to garner donations; and Nick Cannon, host of “America’s Got Talent”, will attempt to dance nonstop for 24 hours leading up to Thursday’s broadcast.
