Sony has put a PlayStation 3 on sale for $199.
There’s a bit of a catch though – the offer is only for a refurbished slim 320 GB PS3.
However, the deal does come from the official Sony site, and includes the same warranty as a brand new PS3.
The refurbished PS3 models in the sale are the second generation consoles. This means that PS2 discs will not work. The only option is to play PS1 and PS3 video games.
The official description of the product in the store:
“Slim, light and quiet, the PS3™ system comes with free access to the PlayStation®Network, built-in Wi-Fi, Blu-ray Disc™ player and a 320GB hard disk drive to store games, music, videos and photos.
PS3 refurbished units have been fully reconditioned and certified by PlayStation and carry the same warranty as a brand new product.”
The sale is here at Sony’s online store.
Amazon currently lists the PlayStation 4 with a December 31 release date – but that sounds rather cautious. Chances are the new console will be launched near the beginning of the 2013 holiday shopping season.
