Fans of the Harry Potter movies, you can rest easy, because the spinoffs are on their way.
Warner Bros. has announced that the movie Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them will be released into theaters on November 18, 2016.
Fantastic Beasts is an adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s book of the same name. Rowling will also be writing the screenplay for the movie, which was first announced last fall and is the first in a trilogy.
The story of Fantastic Beasts is set in New York, 70 years before Harry Potter first arrives at Hogwarts. Many of the magical beasts featured in the book and that are likely to be in the movie have been referenced in the Harry Potter books and films.
The main character of Fantastic Beasts will be Newt Scamander, an expert of magical beasts, as he puts together a reference guide that Harry Potter will eventually read.
No director is attached to the movie, but Alfonso Cuarón, who directed Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, has expressed an interest in the project.
