The unveiling of the long-awaited iPhone 5 may be less than two weeks away, according to a report posted by All Things Digital this morning.
On Tuesday, October 4th, Apple is holding an event starring the new CEO, Tim Cook. The event is meant to be Cook’s first big product introduction, which according to sources, is when Apple’s new iPhone will be revealed.
According to the report posted by writer John Paczkowski of All Things Digital, sources have told the site that the Oct. 4 date has indeed been selected by the company to showcase the iPhone 5. Sources have also supposedly added that “the plan is to make the new device available for purchase within a few weeks after the announcement.”
PC World reports that Apple has booked an event in San Francisco’s Moscone Center, where the company typically holds its large product launch events.
Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, who resigned in August of this year, has introduced every major new Apple product for the past 15 years, such as the first iMac, the first iPod, and all of the products up to the iPad 2 earlier this year.
The last iPhone was released in June 2010, but seeing as Paczkowski now has stepped into Jobs’ shoes, there is a very good chance that the iPhone 5 will be official revealed on October 4th.
