New Year Filled With TV Specials

Whether you are looking to rock in the New Year with a party or avoid the mention of the festivities, you can find something on television to suit your desires on New Year’s Eve.

Many people opt to go with the big network celebrations for their New Year’s Eve parties at home. If this is what you are looking for, then here is what you can expect to find:

Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin Eve with Ryan Seacrest:  This year the party features Jenny McCarthy, Ke$ha, New Kids on the Block ,  Ne-Yo, Train and more. You can tun in at 10:00 pm on ABC.

New Year’s Eve Live:  You will find host Nancy O’Dell and performances by stars such as David Archuleta and Travie McCoy. Tune in to Fox at 11 pm to see who else is performing.

New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly: Here you will see Lil Wayne, My Chemical Romance and even Bono. To catch these and more performances you can tune to your NBC station at 10 pm.

Many people like to tune in to something different and less mainstream. Cable offers up several choices for that as well.

MTV is hosting the New Year’s Bash 2011. Look here for the cast of Jersey Shore and even Flo Rida. It begins at 10:30 pm on both MTV and MTV2.

If partying is not quite your style, try CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live! with Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin. This begins on the cable news channel at 11 pm.

For those who are celebrating with the young kids, there are many television choices as well. One of the most popular is Disney Channel’s Shake it Up New Year’s. Kids can vote for their favorite episodes of 2010 and those shows will be played throughout the evening. Along with that there will be previews of upcoming Disney programming such as movies and the Hannah Montana series finale.

If celebrating is not your style and you prefer to avoid any mention of New Year’s Eve, then there are several marathons being planned for the day that can take your mind off of the celebrations going on.

Turner Classic Movies will be offering Marx Brothers movies beginning at 8 pm.

AMC will take you Back to the Future by feature the trilogy twice throughout the day.

USA is showcasing a House marathon all day long on Friday.

Sleuth will have Monk on all day on Friday.

Finally beginning at 2 pm CMT will have back to back The Dukes of Hazzard episodes.
