Actor/comedian Robin Williams, who was loved by millions of fans around the world has been found dead at the age of 63.
Williams was found in his home dead from what appears to be a suicide. An autopsy has yet to be performed but preliminary reports indicate he died from asphyxia.
Williams’ family is asking for privacy and respect at this time, as they are devastated by the news. There is no word yet of funeral arrangements or whether or not there will be a public memorial service.
Williams was unbelievably talented when it came to making people laugh, but unfortunately he could not make himself happy: he was plagued by depression and alcohol problems for years.
Williams had an uncanny sense of timing and was great at stand-up: he first broke through with his memorable role as an alien on ‘Mork and Mindy’ in the late 70’s.
He then went on to have a string of hit comedic movies, most notably ‘Aladdin’, where he played a cartoon genie and the unforgettable ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’, where he played a dad who dresses in drag to see his kids.
He also starred in several dramatic roles, winning a Best supporting Actor Oscar for his portrayal of Dr. Sean Maguire in the 1997 film ‘Good Will Hunting’.
Last season he starred alongside Brad Garrett in CBS’ ‘The Crazy Ones’, which was not renewed due to poor ratings.
In addition to his brilliance as an actor, he was also involved with several charities, including Comic Relief, which holds events to help the homeless.
