That distinctive cackle, that halting voice and those insults ready to be hurled at anyone and everyone:
She’s baaaack!
Actress/comedienne Roseanne Barr, most famous for her role as an atypical mom on ABC’s “Roseanne” in the late 1980’s to 90’s, will this time be the main character on NBC’s “Downwardly Mobile”, set for this fall.
Barr racked up an Emmy and Golden Globe during her impressive nine-year run with “Roseanne”, so she is a known commodity and John Goodman may reportedly join the show to add even more heft, figuratively and literally.
Barr also has a checkered past, hatcheting the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ before a Padres game to her recent tweet that those who eat Chick Fil-a deserve “…cancer that is sure to come from eating antibiotic filled tortured chickens 4Christ.”
Barr’s response was against the fast food chain’s recent stance in opposition to gay marriage.
It will be interesting to see what the TV viewing audience will be to another middle-class, blue collar comedy from someone whose politics are pretty far left of center.
The centerpiece of an upcoming Comedy Central roast in her honor (Sunday, August 12, at 10/9c), Roseanne is also running for president on the Peace and Freedom party line in California.
NBC has not announced a premier date for “Downwardly Mobile” at this time.
Are you ready for another program with Roseanne, and will you be watching? Would you vote for her for president over either Mitt Romney or Barack Obama? Leave your comments below!
