Microsoft is launching a big sale on their Surface Pro bundles today.
In a doorbuster deal, the Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 complete bundles will be discounted by $100 for the first 20 customers inside each store today.
Throughout the remainder of today, the bundles will be discounted by $50.
The discounts are available both in Microsoft stores and through Microsoft’s online store (not sure how they are working the doorbusters there, that is likely in-store only).
The sale on the Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 bundles is part of Microsoft’s “12 Days of Deals” promotion.
There has been some confusion about this deal though.
Apparently a video promoting the promotion appeared on Youtube this week and priced the bundles at $149 and $249 (doorbuster prices).
Daniel Rubino, the Editor-in-chief, Windows Phone Central, wrote:
“From the ad, the Surface 2 bundle shows the device with an Incipio case, Type Cover 2 and a $25 gift card to the Windows Store. The Surface Pro 2 portion has the Incipio screen protector, Office 365, Surface Pro 2 and Type Cover. Could Microsoft really be offering all of that for those prices? We think it’s a bit deceptive, and the answer is ‘no’. It appears that complete bundles are just a discounted accessories packages”
The video has since been pulled, but it has been confirmed through other sites that the “complete bundles” at the prices above is a bundle of accessories. The actual tablet was not included.
Setting the price confusion related to the pulled video aside, it appears that the actual deal being promoted is legit.
From our understanding, either a Surface 2 or Surface Pro 2 can be purchased alone at their regular price, or they can be purchased with a bundle of accessories. The discount applies to the bundled accessories, not the tablet, per se.
