The Samsung Galaxy Player is finally going to be released in the United States. Samsung is planning to get them into the hands of US consumers starting next month. Pre-orders are being accepted starting tomorrow.
The MP3 player, which is similar to an iPod touch, comes in two models: the Galaxy Player 4.0, and the Galaxy Player 5.0. The Galaxy Player 4.0 is 4-inches, while the Galaxy Player 5.0 is 5-inches.
The two Galaxy Player models, which will go on sale starting October 16, are very similar to an Android smartphone, minus calling, texting, and a cellular data connection.
Both devices run on Android 2.3.5 with a screen resolution of 800×480 pixels, a front (VGA) and rear (3.2 mega-pixel) camera, FM radio, an integrated speaker, fantastic music format support (including AAC, FLAC and OGG), great video format support (Xvid, DivX, H.264, MPEG4), Bluetooth 3.0, and an expandable microSD memory up to 32GB. The Galaxy Player 5.0 features a powerful 2500 mAh battery, while its smaller sibling has a 1200 mAh battery.
Pre-orders for the Galaxy Players begin tomorrow on the Samsung website. The price for the Galaxy Player 4.0 begins at $229 (for 8GB), and the price for the Galaxy Player 5.0 begins at $269.
