San Antonio Spurs Win 5th NBA Title-Championship Gear Now Available (Recap)

The road to redemption has led to a 5th NBA Championship for the San Antonio Spurs, who beat The Miami Heat 104-87 in front of their home crowd at the AT&T Center.

The Spurs simply played like champions, and the final score reflects that.  This is an especially satisfying win for them since they lost to The Heat in last year’s finals.

San Antonio played incredible basketball throughout this series and it proved to be too much for Miami, ending the Big 3’s quest to 3-peat as champs.

At first it seemed like Miami  found their spirit and was going to run away with this game.  They had a 22-6 lead in the 1st quarter thanks to LeBron James, who came out strong and set the tone.

San Antonio though, slowly chipped away at that lead, led by Manu Ginobli, who was 5-7 in the 1st half with 14 points.  The Spurs dominated in the 2nd quarter and had a 47-40 lead.

The 2nd half was the beginning of the end for Miami.  They fell apart half way through the 3rd quarter, finding themselves down 21 with 5:00 remaining and never really recovered.

They made a little run in the 4th, getting the lead down to 14, but San Antonio quickly got it back up to 18 and it never got any closer.

Kawhi Leonard continued to dominate and did a tremendous job of guarding James.  He was named MVP of the finals, the youngest MVP since Duncan got the honors in ’99.

Veterans Duncan and Parker did their part too. It was truly a team effort, with everyone scoring.

Interestingly, coach Gregg Popovich and Tim Duncan are the only 2 people to have a championship ring from each decade: the 90’s( ’99), the 00’s (’03, ’05, ’07) and the 10’s (14).

Championship gear is already available.  Consumer Press spoke with the following sporting goods stores in San Antonio, who all confirmed they will be open immediately following the game if the Spurs win:

Dick’s on Rim Drive, Academy Sports on SW Military Drive, Sport Authority on W Loop Road #240 and Bass Pro Shops on W IH-10.  They will all have championship hats, t-shits and more.
