Sears Recalls Kenmore Elite Dual Fuel Ranges For Fire Hazard

Kenmore Elite dual fuel ranges– sold exclusively by Sears and manufactured by Electrolux– have been recalled for risk of fire and burn hazards.

The ranges are stainless steel slide-in models with gas cooktops and electric ovens. They were sold exclusively at Sears nationwide from June 2014 through October 2014 and ranged in cost from $3200 to $3700.

According to the recall report, the hazard involves a malfunction with the burner flame: “The burner flame can go out while the gas is turned on. This can allow gas to escape and poses fire and burn hazards.”

Kenmore Elite dual fuel range model numbers involved in the Sears recall are 790.42603xxx with serial numbers ranging from AF42500601 through AF43000916 and model number 790.42613xxx with serial numbers ranging from AF42500541 through AF43103647.

The model and serial numbers can be located on the inside of the range, along the left side of the door frame.

About 250 units are involved in the Sears Kenmore Elite dual fuel range recall. They were manufactured in the United States by Electrolux and have Kenmore Elite printed on the oven door.

Sears says no injuries have been reported so far.

Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled Kenmore Elite dual fuel ranges immediately and to contact Sears toll-free at (888) 710-9284 between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. CT Monday through Friday or Saturday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. CT.
