The Star Wars series’ most iconic villain will return to the screen in this December’s new Star Wars movie, Rogue One.
According to Entertainment Weekly’s new cover story on the upcoming film, the first in Disney and Lucasfilm’s planned series of “standalone” Star Wars movies, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, will feature the Darth Vader character.
The magazine issue, featuring Vader himself on the cover, will arrive on newsstands Friday and share the full story of how prominent the man in black’s role is in Rogue One.
The new film, which focuses on the theft of the Death Star plans that took place immediately prior to the events of the 1977 Star Wars: A New Hope, mostly features new characters, played by the likes of Felicity Jones, Ben Mendelsohn, Diego Luna, Jiang Wen, Donnie Yen, Riz Ahmed and Forest Whitaker.
Darth Vader, the primary villain of the original Star Wars trilogy, was last seen on screen at the end of 2005’s Revenge of the Sith, the last of the three prequel films.
