Sega Confirms Castle of Illusion Remake

Sega Confirms Castle of Illusion Remake

Sega confirmed that a HD remake of Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse is coming this summer.

The game was originally released in 1990 for Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, and it features Mickey Mouse in a side-scrolling action where he goes inside a castle to rescue Minnie Mouse.

The remake will have the game in both 2D and 3D.

Sega states:

“We have also been working very closely with the director of the original game, who is now at Disney Interactive.  We are having a blast working with her to realize many of the elements that were intended for the original game  but couldn’t be achieved until now due to the technical limitations of previous generation consoles.”

As of now, it’s not sure what kind of changes they will make for the HD remake.  3D games tend not to work too well for Mickey Mouse games, Epic Mickey is an example.  Hopefully they will learn a thing or two from it.

The game will be available on Xbox Live, PlayStation Network and PC.
