Selena Gomez Paints Ponies Pink, PETA PO’d

Selena Gomez, Disney star and singer, was filming a new video for her song ‘Love You Like A Love Song’ last week. Part of the video included her being filmed with pink horses on a beach in Malibu.

Rather than go the high tech route and make the white horses pink digitally during editing, the horses were actually painted pink. “There are no safe ways to paint a live horse or any animal; they can have painful allergic reactions to chemicals and there’s no way to know how an individual animal will react,” said a rep for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) according to Celebuzz.

However, a rep for Selena Gomez told People magazine “It was important to the Production Company, Record Label and Ms. Gomez that no animals were harmed and all proper precautions were taken. A non toxic, vegetable based powder paint was applied via an airbrush and removed with water. An official from the Humane Society was on set supervising.”

Singer ‘Pink’, objected to turning the horses the color she has adopted as her name, Tweeting: “If there are any animal activists around Malibu – at Leo Cabrillo State Beach, there are horses being painted for a stupid music video. Shame.” After learning that the pink horses were part of a video for Selena Gomez, Pink Tweeted: “oh lord, THAT’S whose video it was? Disney fans unite. here we go. RT @PinkFans_ NEWS: @SelenaGomez fans are angry with @Pink.”
