There have been reports that Lana and Andy Wachowski, who’re popular for directing Cloud Atlas and The Matrix trilogy, were working on ‘Sense8’, a Sci-Fi television series, with J. Michael Straczynski, the man behind Babylon 5.
However, there’s a new story after the project’s latest announcement: Sense8 is not actually a television series, its 10 part series that’s going to make way on Netflix late 2014.
Netflix describes Sense8 as ‘a gripping global tale of minds linked and souls hunted’.
The Wachowskis say they are excited about the concept, and wrote the first three scripts of the series on spec. They’ll also be acting, along with Straczynski, on the series, who’s using his Studio JMS production house to co-produce the series.
Georgeville TV will be partnership with Studio JMS for the production.
The Wachowskis released a statement with the show’s announcement, saying ‘”We’re excited to work with Netflix and Georgeville Television on this project, and we’ve wanted to work with Joe Straczynski for years, chiefly due to the fact his name is harder to pronounce than ours, but also because we share a love of genre and all things nerdy.”
They also gave a hint about the 10-part Netflix series, mentioning ‘”several years ago, we had a late-night conversation about the ways technology simultaneously unites and divides us, and out of that paradox Sense8 was born.”
Sense8 will be arriving on Netflix in the late half of 2014.
