Yep, it’s that time of the year again: time to rev up your chainsaws and run for cover because “Sharknado 2: The Second One’ is set to storm into New York tonight.

You could also say it’s time for some cheesy acting and a lot of laughs (most of them at the acting, but some from the ridiculous plot line too).

Then again, ever since the original ‘Sharknado’ became a smash-hit everyone involved has made it clear this movie is meant to be bad- but in a good, B-movie type way, so no apologies necessary.

Syfy is known for it’s preposterous movies ( Dinocroc, Shraktopus, Frankenfish- just to name a few) so sharks spiraling to the Earth is all in a day’s work for them.

For those of you who didn’t catch the first one here’s the basics: in last years movie, set in Los Angeles, sharks funnel out of thousands of tornadoes, devouring people as they plummet to the ground.

Fin (Ian Ziering), is the hero of the story, managing to chainsaw his way right through a shark (yes, you read that right) and save his ex-wife April (Tara Reid).

Part 2 has Fin and April coming to New York to promote their book about last year’s ‘Sharknado” when- you guessed it- sharks  start falling from the sky again.

Chainsaws get revved up once again to comical proportions as the sharks threaten to wipe out the east coast.

This time around there is an extended cast of celebrities, including Andy Dick, Biz Markie, Matt Lauer, Al Roker, Perez Hilton, Vivica A. Fox.

There are more celebrity cameos, but we’ll leave them for you to discover while your watching.

Yes the acting, the premise,  just about everything about this movie screams ridiculous- but it’s supposed to be .

‘Sharknado 2’, like it’s predecessor is meant to be a fun way to pass the time and it accomplishes that goal with ease.

‘Sharknado 2’ airs Wednesday, July 30 at 9 P.M. (EST) on the Syfy channel.  You can check out the trailer below.

The movie will also hit theaters for one day only on August 21st.
