Small Business Saturday is Black Friday’s Little Brother

Compared to an elbow-to-the-face one might suffer on Black Friday, shopping local this Saturday, November 29, should be a cakewalk.

American Express brought us the first Small Business Saturday back in 2010, and would typically give small discounts for shopping local at participating stores. Although the movement has steadily grown since, some surveys show that not all mom and pops are even aware of the promotion.

Regardless, AmEx highlights hundreds of supporters on its website. Click on this link to find a map of participating businesses near you.

Additionally, partnering with the Small Business Association, the National Restaurant Association hopes to create some tasty synergy by encouraging you to eat local after a full day of shopping. Look for the #DineSmall hashtag in your favorite local restaurant promotions to scarf down even more savings.
