Lorne Michaels, SNL’s creator and driving force for the past 40 years, told various news outlets he really wanted to put on a show that celebrates all of the show’s amazing accomplishments.
He has put together a line-up of celebrities that includes past favorites, former guest hosts, musical guests and more.
Among those scheduled to appear are: Eddie Murphy, Dan Akroyd, Jimmy Fallon, Chevy Chase, Tina Fey, Justin Timberlake, Will Ferrel, Derek Jeter, Betty White, Robert DeNiro, Kanye West, Kevin Hart, Kristen Wiig and many more.
Michaels says there will be various skits and he will be mixing old and new SNL stars, so fans will see something fresh and exciting.
SNL debuted on October 11, 1975 with the iconic George Carlin as host and was called “NBC Saturday Night”.
From the very beginning the show poked fun at well known figures in society and pushed the envelope with a different type of comedy.
In just a few short weeks it became a fan favorite and from there it became a must-see show for fans young and old.
It was also the launching pad for many of the comedians we know and love, including Chevy Chase and Eddie Murphy, so this is a homecoming of sorts fans won’t want to miss.
