Some Stores & Restaurants Still Open On Christmas Day

Shoppers will still be able to grab a cup of coffee, eat out, go to the movies, pick up a prescription or shop for last-minute gifts on December 25, 2012.

Major movie chains like Regal and Carmike Cinemas are open at many locations with films opening Christmas Day. That includes Les Miserables, Parental Guidance, Django Unchained, and West of Memphis this year.

A number of stores, fast food chains, and restaurants will be open on Christmas Day.

Walgreens’ non-24 hour stores will remain open from 9am – 6pm on Christmas Day. Pharmacies will remain open in 24-hour locations and other select locations.

Walgreens’ 24 hour stores will still be open around the clock on Christmas Day.

Store locations and hours are available by calling 1-800-Walgreens or by visiting their website.

CVS has thousands of locations that will be open Christmas Day and 24 hour locations will remain open around the clock. Non-24 hour stores will be open 10am – 8pm Christmas Day. Pharmacies will be closed.

Shoppers can visit or call 1-800-CVS to locate an open store near them.

Most Rite Aid stores and pharmacies will also be open on Christmas Day. Hours will vary by location.

Another retailer traditionally open on Christmas is Family Dollar. Store hours this year are 10am – 3pm.

Starbucks’ hours will also vary by location with over 1,000 locations open Christmas Day although many will have shortened operating hours.

National restaurants open on Christmas include IHOP (hours vary), all Denny’s (open 24/7), Waffle House (most or all will be open), and Jack in the Box (all should be open, but some may have shorter hours).

Other restaurants and fast food chains that will be open for Christmas in select locations and with limited hours include Dunkin Donuts, Baskin-Robbins, TGI Friday’s, Burger King, McDonald’s, Pizza Hut, Subway, Domino’s, Sonic, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Boston Market.

Christmas is one of the busiest days for convenience stores. Many will remain open including 7-Eleven stores which will be operating under normal store hours with most locations open 24/7.

Some grocery stores are expected to be open Christmas Day at select locations with limited hours. Stores include Safeway, Giant Food, and Winn-Dixie.
