It looks like the bromance between Jax (charlie Hunnam) and Nero (Jimmy Smits) is officially over.

Pictures from the set of ‘Sons of Anarchy’ show Hunnam and Smits being choreographed in what looks like a brutal fight scene, while several SAMCRO members look on.

You can see all the pictures from onset  here.

Nero and Jax have been friends and business partners for a while, displaying an on screen camaraderie that felt genuine to viewers.

However, Nero learned some information that he perceived as a betrayal by Jax and led to him reluctantly getting back in the game.

By the end of season 6 Nero had joined forces with Alvarez (Emilio Rivera), leader of the rival Mayans and it appeared he was headed for a showdown with Jax.

These new pics seem to indicate that will be the case in season 7.

The pictures show Hunnam, accompanied by his stunt double, going at it with Smits and eventually taking him down.

Nero was 1st introduced in season 5 a pimp and reformed gang-banger who referred to himself as a “companionator” .

He became involved with Gemma (Katey Segal), Jax’s mom, in what was one of the most genuine love stories on the show to date.

His friendship with Jax was also refreshingly real to watch, with Smit’s character acting as a mentor and eventual business partner for Jax, who has lacked real adult guidance most of his life.

‘Sons of Anarchy’ creator Kurt Sutter has a knack for building up and then dismantling relationships between characters that tears at viewer’s hearts.

He did a remarkable job of layering the emotions and actions of these 2 characters, setting up what is sure to be an emotional, volatile end of this once vital friendship.

The 7th and final season of ‘Sons of Anarchy’ will air this September on FX.
