‘Sons of Anarchy’ creator Kurt Sutter had a lot to say about his hit show, including the fact that ending isn’t set in stone just yet.

Speaking to the Television Critics Association’s press tour in Beverly Hills on Monday the enigmatic Sutter gave fans his unique perspective on this final season and the show in general.

He started off by saying that in regards to the ending he’s ” a week-and-a-half behind writing episode 7, so it could all change.”

He then went on to say that: “I’ve always had a sense of where I wanted it to go, and I come in each season with a blueprint with the big arcs and mile markers. And I’ve learned over seven seasons the looser I grip that idea the better the seasons are. And this season isn’t any different. I came in with how I wanted the season to end … but things change. It’s always been heading in the same direction, but the way I’m getting there continues to change.”

So while anything can happen during the writing of these final episodes, it sounds to me as if he has a clear image in his mind of how the show will end and will get it to that point one way or another.

In addition, he assured fans that there will be closure, saying: “We don’t fade to black in a diner,” in reference to the ending of the Sopranos, which had fans of that series livid over the lack of a true ending.

Sutter also addressed criticism about the shows abundance of violence telling the press:” It’s not that my goal is to disturb people, but I also want that reaction when beloved characters go away.  I want them to be upset.”

Speaking as a fan who has watched from the beginning I can attest to the fact that the violence on the show has never been done gratuitously.

I have often been in tears and throwing things at the screen over the death of certain characters (Opie!), but the violence is always within the context of the story and makes sense.

Meanwhile, Charlie Hunnam (Jax) gave us some insight into his character’s frame of mind following his wife’s brutal murder.

He told reporters: “He’s obviously very sad and vulnerable and kind of broken, but there’s a huge amount of vengeance and anger in his heart … He knows what he wants to do, and that’s where all his energy is going. He can’t get away from the fact that the love of his life has been taken from him”.

Sutter added that: “Jax’s singular purpose for most of the season is to avenge her death.”

Which means once he discovers it was his own mother who killed her it’s a good bet that all hell is going to beak loose and fans will see some of the shows most emotional scenes to date.

From all this information it’s a sure thing that this last season will be the best to date, possibly the best ever for a series.
