Sony and Marvel Reach New Spider-Man Deal

Marvel Studios has made a deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment to collaborate on bringing the famous superhero Spider-Man and his cast of supporting characters and villains into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

According to the deal, Spider-Man will first make an appearance in one of Marvel Studios’s upcoming MCU films. Following that, Sony will release their new installment of the webslinger’s franchise in July 28, 2017. This film will be a collaborative effort with Sony’s Amy Pascal and Marvel’s Kevin Feige, in order to create and integrate a new version of the friendly neighborhood hero into the cinematic universe Marvel has created.

Sony Pictures will continue to distribute and have major control of any upcoming Spider-Man films. This also opens up the possibility of introducing MCU characters in Spider-Man films, and vice versa.

This decision was made after intense negotiations between the companies to bring the franchise into the MCU. Rumors about the collaboration began to heat up after the leaks that supposedly revealed these plans.

Spider-Man and his associated cast of characters plays a major role in the Marvel Comics universe, joining several teams, including The Avengers, and having a famous friendship with Johnny Storm/The Human Torch. He also played a pivotal role in the recent comic book event Civil War, which will be adapted in the upcoming Captain America film. It is reasonable to assume he might appear in that movie.
