SparkFun Free Day Gives Away $150,000 In Products

On January 13, 2011, internet retailer SparkFun electronics will be holding their second annual Free Day to celebrate their customers with giveaways of $150,000 in merchandise.

Founder and CEO Nathan Seidle says the day is a way of giving back to loyal customers and offering new customers a chance to get started with SparkFun.

SparkFun was created in 2003 and held the first ever Free Day last year. The year the amount of goods offered has increased. Customers are rewarded based either on their time as customers or the answers to a quiz.

In addition to the giveaway, SparkFun is donating $2 for each correctly answered question to a combination of three charities: The Gathering Place, The Hunger Project and X Prize Foundation.
