Steelers Drop Jeff Reed, Bring In Shaun Suisham

A statement by the Pittsburgh Steelers confirmed the release of kicker Jeff Reed in order to make room for new kicker Shaun Suisham.

Reed began his season with the Steelers as the most accurate kicker in the team’s history. He was also the second all-time scorer for the team. Over this season, however, Reed has missed 7 of his 22 field goal attempts including a 26 yard attempt during Sunday night’s game.

The press release from the Steelers acknowledged the release of Reed in his 9th year on the team and touted the need to make room for their new kicker Shaun Suisham.

Suisham was a kicker for the Redskins for four seasons prior to his release on December 8. He then had a brief stint with the Cowboys before he settled with the Steelers. He reportedly signed a one-year contract.
