Stella & Chewy’s Recall | Listeria Monocytogenes Present

Stella & Chewy’s has voluntarily recalled select cat and dog foods due to a possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

The recalled, contaminated products are the 8.5oz. Frozen Stella’s Super Beef Dinner Morsels for Dogs (UPC 186011001554) with a best by date of 06/25/2016, the 4lb. Frozen Stella’s Super Beef Dinner Morsels for Dogs (UPC 186011001370) with best by dates of 06/25/2016 and 06/26/2016, and the 1.25lb. Frozen Duck Duck Goose Dinner Morsels for Cats (UPC  186011001455) with a best by date of 06/25/2016. All contaminated products have a lot number of 165-15.

The following product has also been recalled as a precautionary measure; it has not tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes: the 1.25lb. Frozen Chick Chick Chicken Dinner Morsels for Cats (UPC 186011001448) with a best by date of 07/02/2016 with lot numbers 160-15 and 152-15.

Consumers who have purchased the contaminated products should discontinue feeding the products to their pets and can return the products to the original store of purchase for a full refund.

Pet owners with questions or concerns for Stella & Chewy’s are invited to call its Consumer Service team at 888-477-8977 or email the company at info@stellaandchewys.com.

To date, no illnesses or deaths in humans or animals have been reported in association with this recall.

Pets with Listeria – the illness caused by Listeria monocytogenes – may experience all or some of the following symptoms: diarrhea, fever, lack of coordination, lethargy, muscle soreness, stiff neck, vomiting, and weakness. Severe cases of Listeria can result in meningitis.

Not all dogs infected with Listeria will experience symptoms.
