NYC is in the middle of a heat wave- making it the perfect time to turn lower Manhattan into a Super Slide to cool off!
Summer Streets, the annual event that turns NYC into a pedestrian play-land, is coming to NYC starting today and will feature a 270 foot water slide at Foley Square.
Summer Streets 2015 will take place August 1, 8 and 15 from 7 A.M. (EST) to 1 P.M. (EST) and runs nearly 7 miles, from Central Park to the Brooklyn Bridge (mostly via Park Avenue and Lafayette Street).
You can see the full map below, which shows the various rest/activity areas along the way.
There will be a zip line, various interactive stations (like dance classes and soccer demonstrations) and free food in addition to the monstrous slide, which is called Vita Coco Beach (as in Vita Coco coconut water- which they’ll be giving out for free).
Vita Coco coconut water will also have a misting station, palm trees, and a virtual technology station that lets you feel like you’re on the beach.
The event is free and open to everyone, but to go on the slide you need to register in advance and show up a half-hour early (it is free though).
Registration can be done online: registration for this Saturday, August 1st, is already open; registration for August 8th opens on August 3rd and registration for August 15th opens August 10th.
