This year’s Super Bowl halftime show will be featuring the Black Eyed Peas, the Prairie View A&M University Marching Storm, Usher, and Slash.
The Super Bowl XLV halftime show will be performed at the home of this year’s Super Bowl, Cowboys Stadium, in Arlington Texas.
While the details of the actual halftime performance is a closely held secret, we do know that it will feature the Black Eyed Peas.
The Black Eyed Peas (video below) are a hip-hop band from LA. They trace their origins back to high school, when William Adams (will.i.am) and Allan Pineda (apl.de.ap) met in the eighth grade. Their debut album was never released because the positive themes in the lyrics were not considered to be attractive and marketable at the time. They have now sold over 27 million albums worldwide. Their first hit was “Where Is The Love?” in 2003. Their album “Monkey Business” went 4x Platinum.
The Super Bowl halftime show will also include the Prairie View A&M University Marching Storm. Prairie View A&M University is located in Prairie View, Texas, and is Texas’s oldest historically black University. The Marching Storm have performed in President Bush’s 2001 inauguration parade in Washington, the 2004 Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving day game, and the 2009 Tournament of Roses Parade. They are well known for their energetic dance routines and drumline performances. They will be joined by the Black Foxxes, the university majorette line.
Usher, who has sold over 45 million albums worldwide, will also be performing, as will Slash.
Usher is ranked by by Billboard magazine as the 21st most successful Hot 100 Singles Artist of all-time, and the #1 Hot 100 artist of the 2000s decade.
Guitarist and songwriter Slash is the former lead guitarist of Guns N’ Roses. He is #2 on Time Magazine list of the “10 Best Electric Guitar Players of All-Time”, and is #21 on Gigwise’s list of the “50 Greatest Guitarists Ever”.
