When you think of the best fighting game ever made, do you think of Mario punching Pikachu in the face?
According to sales provided by VGChartz.com, Super Smash Bros. Brawl – the third in the franchise – has sold over 12 million copies of the game globally since 2008.
This number alone shatters the original Super Smash Bros. sales by more than double since its 1999 release!
Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U is just around the corner and the hype has been intense. Gamers are excited to see fighters like Mega Man, Pac-Man and many more making their debut for the games roster.
Will it do better, though?
The second called Super Smash Bros. Melee sold 2 million units more than the first, and then Brawl by 5 million units, proving that the trend of outshining the former will most likely continue.
And why wouldn’t it? Smash Bros. players love taking their favorite character and going head-to-head with others in a four player all out brawl. And with the addictive item and character unlocks, the added ability to create characters and use your own Mii’s to fight now, Super Smash Bros. Wii U seems to have unlimited potential.
Is Super Smash Bros. Brawl the best game ever? Probably not, as its sales dwarf that of the most sold game ever, which is Wii Sports, selling 82 million copies globally.
Be prepared to “smash it up” this November 21st when Super Smash Bros. Wii U is released in North America!
