T-Mobile’s New HTC Amaze 4G – Release Date, Price & More

T-Mobile announced the release date of one of its fastest 4G phones to date, the HTC Amaze 4G.

The HTC Amaze 4G is a smartphone that runs on T-Mobile’s new HSPA+ 42 network, which has an average downloading speed of 8Mbps. 8Mbps is faster than most home internet connections! Verizon Wireless’s LTE network currently takes the crown for the fastest mobile network, downloading at the average speed of 9.46Mbps.

T-Mobile hopes that in two years that it will “evolve to LTE,” the company’s chief marketing office Cole Brodman states. “We’ve always been committed to LTE in our long-term evolution.”

The new phone runs on a 1.5-Ghz dual-core Qualcomm processor with Android Gingerbread 2.3 OS, and features a 4.3-inch, 960-by-540 super-LCD screen. The smartphone also has new software that improves the camera’s low-light performance, shutter lag, and automatically filters the best photos into an album.

The carrier also announced the Sonic 4G Mobile Hotspot by Huawei, a Wi-Fi hotspot that can share a single HSPA+ 42 connection between five separate devices.

T-Mobile also provided more details regarding its Samsung Galaxy S II model, stating that the Android-powered smartphone will also feature the 1.5-Ghz dual-core processor, and an 800-by-480, 4.5-inch touch screen.

Both the HTC Amaze 4G and the Samsung Galaxy S II will be available for pre-order on Oct. 10, and will be available for purchase on Oct. 12. The HTC Amaze will cost $309.99 with a two-year contract, and the Galaxy S II will cost $279.99, but both phones will also come with a $50 mail-in rebate.
