Target announced that many of its products will now be available for shipping to customers worldwide, just in time for the 2015 holiday season.
The retailer said about half of its products can now be shipped to over 200 countries and territories. Brazil, China, India, countries of the European Union, Canada and Mexico are among the countries that Target will ship orders to as it tests its new international website.
Target’s new international site lets shoppers view prices in their local currency, complete with any tariff, duty, and shipping charges. Checkout information is also translated into the country’s local language.
Target says “about half the assortment” of goods available on Target’s U.S. site will be available for international buyers. Categories include electronics, apparel, toys, home décor, beauty products, baby goods, and housewares.
The prices for international buyers will be the same as those in the U.S. and can be shown in 60 different currencies. Current conversion rates will be reflected.
U.S. shoppers will also be able to place orders and have them shipped to friends and family overseas.
“We believe international consumers will love shopping the great brands, great prices and exclusive products that are synonymous with Target,” said Jason Goldberger, president of Target.com and Mobile, in a statement to the press.
“Target.com already gets tens of millions of visitors every year from outside the U.S., and this test will give us even greater insight into how shoppers around the world engage with Target.”
Target partnered with Borderfree, part of Pitney Bowes—a global ecommerce brand— to make international shipping possible.
International shoppers who visit Target.com will now be taken to Target’s new site: Intl.Target.com. A link on the top right corner of the homepage lets users select their country, then currency.
