Terrorist Bombing At Moscow Airport Kills 35, Injures 152

Authorities believe terrorist are responsible for an explosion at Moscow’s busiest airport that left 35 people dead and 152 injured.

The Domodedovo airport was busy at 4:30 pm when the explosion took place near the entrance of the arrivals section. It is being reported by State TV that a suicide bomber carried out the attack. The reports say that a homemade bomb was used and packed with materials to create more damage. The bomb was set off in a crowded area that was chosen due its ability to harm the most people.

The police in Moscow are now on high alert and security at all transportation centers has been increased to prevent additional attacks.

Even though incoming flights were routed to the other airports in Moscow, spokeswoman Yelena Galanova reported that the airport was only shut down for 20 minutes and was operating as usual.

Those nearby reported glass and panels falling from the building and ceiling after the explosion took place. Many reported seeing bodies and injured people after the explosion took place. Over 50 ambulances were sent to the scene to help with the injured.

Domodedovo Airport is the largest and busiest airport in the Moscow area. It is located 14 miles southeast of the city.
