The 2014 Belmont Stakes: Odds/TV Coverage & Live Streaming

California Chrome will try to make history today at the 146th running of The Belmont Stakes by becoming the first horse in 36 years to win the Tripe Crown.

Chrome started out as an underdog, but after winning the Kentucky Derby and then batting a cold to win The Preakness (sporting a nasal strip) he has become the odds-on- favorite and captured the hearts of racing fans.

The last Triple Crown winner was Affirmed back in 1978.  The previous 4 Crown Winners all led The Belmont from start to finish.

California Chrome is the favorite, with a handicap of 3-5.  The rest of the field includes: Medal Count (10-1), Matterhorn (30-1), Commanding Curve (15-1), Ride On Curlin (12-1), Matuszak (30-1), Samraat ( 20-1), Commissioner (20-1), Wicked Strong (6-1) General a Rod (20-1) and Tonalist (8-1).

The Belmont Stakes takes place in Elmont, New York, and is 1 1/2 miles long (12 furloughs).  It has a purse of $1.5 million with $800,000 going to the winner.

You can catch all the action starting at 2:30 P.M. (EST) on the NBC Sports Network.  NBC takes over starting at 4:30 P.M. (EST) and will broadcast the race live at 6:52 P.M. (EST).  Live Streaming will be available on NBC Live Extra.
