‘X-Files’ fans, the truth is out and it’s really good news: after 13 long years off the air your favorite sci-fi show is coming back to Fox television.
The not so good news? It’s coming back as a limited series consisting of only six (yes six!) episodes.
Take heart though because this project is just getting underway, so that number could change or they could even do 6 episodes every few months, like a recurring serial drama.
Okay, so now back to some more good news: ‘X-Files’ creator Chris Carter is back for this project along with original stars David Duchovny (Agent Mulder) and Gillian Anderson (Agent Scully).
Dana Walden and Gary Newman, who are Chairmen and CEO’s of the Fox Television Newsgroup told reporters: “Few shows on television have drawn such dedicated fans as ‘The X-Files’, and we’re ecstatic to give them the next thrilling chapter of Mulder and Scully they’ve been waiting for.”
This limited run will be in keeping with the original series and follow Mulder and Scully as they investigate mysterious cases that seem to have no explanation.
As of now there is no premiere date: production is set to start this summer and it yet to be determined if any other original cast members will be joining the show.
