The Voice 2013 Live Rounds Cont’d: Team Christina Shines Bright

The live rounds continued tonight on NBC’s Season 5 of The Voice 2013. Team Cee Lo and Team Christina performed tonight each vying for a spot in the Top 12.

Who impressed tonight? Well, in our humble opinion, Team Christina really shined bright tonight. With that being said, let’s recap some of our favorite performances from tonight’s live round!

Team Cee Lo’s Amber Nicole performs “Wasting All These Tears” by Cassadee Pope

Amber did a great job of creating a soulful twist to this country song. Although she was off key when she tried to hit a big note midway through the song, she still had noticeably shining vocal moments throughout the performance.

Adam said, “It was a good performance. There was really only one thing to be critical on and that was the big note was a little under, but all in all it was refreshing to see a different side of you.”

Blake stated:“You’re treading on some sacred ground, but I gotta say you did a good job, outside the big note issue.”

Former coach Christina said, “You know I love you. I’m so happy that you found a home with Cee Lo. You did your own thing with it. I heard a little bit of Rihanna in there. I love those runs and ad libs choices. Yes, the big note was a little sharp, but after that you nailed it.”

We totally agree with Christina, we can totally hear a Rihanna vibe coming out of Miss. Amber Nicole!

Cee Lo said that Amber really rose to the occasion with such class. He too believes that besides the one sharp note, she did a good job.

Caroline Pennell performs White Stripes’ “We Are Going To Be Friends”

We absolutely adore Caroline’s sweet and tender voice. We were so hoping that she would do her own rendition of Lorde’s “Royals” just because it seems like such a well-suited song for her voice. However, Caroline did a great cover of the White Stripes’ “We Are Going To Be Friends.”

Adam said, “For the first time tonight I heard purely you. You did a beautiful Caroline rendition of that song.”

Blake said, “I don’t know what it is about you, but I could literally be getting an amputation and when I hear your voice all I’d be thinking about is cotton candy. You are mesmerizing.”

Cee Lo stated: “That was wonderful. I just think your voice is so sweet and it was such a sweet rendition of the song. I think America loves you and they are not wrong about it.”

Team Christina’s Josh Logan performs Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy”

Josh is definitely one of our favorites in the competition. We really loved his interpretation of the song. Sure, he did inundate the song with a ton of runs, rifts and ad libs, but we can’t help but love him for it. His voice sounds like a mixture of a spunkier version of Ray Lamontagne and the legendary Stevie Wonder.

Cee Lo said, “I’m flattered and honored that you covered this record. I think you did a great job.”

Adam expressed that he is a huge fan of Josh, but wanted it a little bit scaled back because he thought it got a little complicated at times.

Christina said, “It was so original, it was so Josh. You are such a skilled vocalist…the way you ad lib and sing your runs…I think it was great and you made it your own.”

Team Christina’s Stephanie Anne Johnson performs Ray Charles’ “Georgia on My Mind”

Ok, we were totally glued to our tv screen while watching Stephanie’s performance. She truly gave a stunningly beautiful performance of a classic song.

Cee Lo said, “I got mixed emotions. I’m entertained, I’m amazed I’m jealous. This was a whole new version of you. You really commanded the crowd tonight.”

Adam professed, “You kinda changed up the song, which didn’t make me dwell on the original. I think it was your own thing and I respect that.”

Christina said, “Wonderful job. You have such a unique quality to your voice. There is richness and it’s so solid. You have a lot of great jazz skills. This girl is so versatile!”

Team Christina’s Matthew Schuler performed Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball”

We were so captivated by Matthew’s version of “Wrecking Ball.” He changed it up in parts and really made it his own. Oh gosh, and that crazy note he hit in the middle of the song was perfection!

Cee Lo said, “I hate how much I love you,” while Adam too agrees, saying that he shares the same pain as Cee Lo does since Mathew isn’t on his team. Adam continues, “Everything you exude proves you can to take this thing all the way.”

Blake said, “This is the guy you gotta look out for. Forget you man. You’re so good.”

Christina remarked, “You always bring such charisma and such emotion. You smashed it. Vote for this guy!”

Team Christina’s Jacquie Lee performs “I Put A Spell On You”

We were instantly a fan of Jacquie during her blind audition when she performed Amy Winehouse’s “Back To Black.” Tonight she proved once again how incredibly amazing she really is as she gave one of the best vocal performances of the night!

Cee Lo said, “Dang, I mean Wow, that was the absolute best. You are most certainly the future.”

Adam said, “That was crazy —The emotion and how connected you were.”

Christina proclaimed, “You have grown so much. I am just honored to be your coach. I love you and I connect with you on such a special level of understanding. You are an old soul.”

So overall, we were really feeling Team Christina tonight! Who was your favorite performance tonight?! Leave your thoughts below!
