Well, Voice Fans! It’s that time again. The Battle Rounds are finally upon us on Season 6 of The Voice.
Each of the coaches has enlisted the help of music advisers to help coach the contestants during the battle rounds.
Team Blake’s adviser is The Band Perry, while Blake Shelton’s wife Miranda Lambert advises Team Shakira. Team Usher enlisted the help of Jill Scott, while Team Adam’s adviser is Aloe Blacc.
There was one battle tonight that grabbed our attention and even received a 3 chair steal by the coaches! Let’s dig a bit deeper into our favorite battle of the night!
Team Usher’s Jake Barker vs. Stevie Jo “Higher Love”
Ok, so, can anyone believe that Jake has never performed on stage until The Voice?! Super shocking right?! He seems so at home when he hits the stage. We love how he’s got this great Justin Timberlake vibe to his voice, which Jill Scott mentioned during rehearsals and we really couldn’t agree more!
Then we have Stevie Jo, who captivated us with his blind audition performance of Usher’s “There Goes My Baby.” This former heavy metal artist has seamlessly transitioned into the perfect R&B vocalist.
So, you put these two vocalists together and magic ensues. Their electrifying performance of “Higher Love” beautifully showcases the powerful and rick texture to each of their voices.
Adam even ended up giving a standing ovation for the performance!
Shakira noted, “You guys just really drew us in. I commend you both.”
She continues to praise Jake for his falsetto and Stevie for his versatility.
Adam says, “Both of you were so good, whoever doesn’t make it is gonna be on my team.”
Blake says, “I’ve never seen a more evenly matched battle, but if I would have to choose, I would go with Jake.”
Ultimately, Usher ends up choosing Stevie Jo!
Moments later, Adam, Shakira and Blake all push their button to steal Jake, creating a 3 chair steal!!!
However, Jake ends up choosing to join Team Adam!
