It’s Night 3 of the Battle Rounds on tonight’s episode of NBC’s Season 6 of The Voice.
Once again, Team Adam is joined by adviser Aloe Blacc, while Team Blake is accompanied by The Band Perry. Team Usher’s adviser is Jill Scott, while Team Shakira is joined by Miranda Lambert.
Who performed the best battles of the night? Well, let’s recap our favorite performances!
Team Adam’s Austin Ellis vs. Josh Kaufman perform “Happy” by Pharrell
Soul singers Austin and Josh gave one of the best battles of the night with their performance of Pharrell’s “Happy.”
Josh sang so effortlessly as he showcased his natural gritty tone and unbelievable falsetto. On the other hand, Austin did a great job of singing the song with incredible gusto and energy.
Blake says, “There was so much energy up on that stage. Austin, you’re a solid singer. Josh, you were singing falsetto in full voice and I couldn’t keep up with all your tricks.” Blake ultimately says he would pick Josh.
Usher says, “Austin you are like a caged beast, your upper range is up there, but I would have to give it to Josh.”
Shakira says, “This was one of the best battles, hands down. I kept going back and forth on who to pick. These are two great singers that just won the entire audience over including me.”
Adam praises both of the contestants for their infectious energy, but particularly says that what Josh does is “miraculous and really special.”
Adam says he is very proud of both contestants, but chooses Josh as the winner of the battle!
Team Shakira’s Deja Hall vs. Music Box perform “Eternal Flame” by The Bangles
R&B/soul singers Deja and Music (her alias name) gave a great performance of “Eternal Flame.”
Music clearly had more of a powerful, polished and mature voice, while 16-year-old Deja showcased a sweet clarity to her voice.
Adam says that he believes both of the contestants have special qualities. He says
Deja has so much power at such a young age so he would pick her.
Blake says that both bring something unique to this performance, while Usher says that there is so much potential in Deja, but says Music has a little more experience. Essentially, he says that he believes both will go far.
In the end, Shakira ends up picking Deja Hall! But, fear not, Usher comes in for the steal and gets Music Box to join his team!!
Team Usher’s Bria Kelly vs. Tess Boyer perform “Piece of My Heart” by Janis Joplin
The final battle of the night proved to be another one of the best performances as Bria and Tess performed Janis Joplin’s “Piece of My Heart.”
Bria showcased her rocker edge with her raspy tone. She really seemed to be very connected to the song. Tess did a great job of showcasing the authentic and honest quality to her voice.
Shakira says, “That was awesome. I think Tess played with more dynamics, but Bria has an amazing voice.”
Adam says that even though he did not turn around for Tess during the blind auditions, he is now a fan of her. However, he says that there is something about Bria that makes him so terrified of Team Usher.
Blake says, “Tess came out of nowhere with this one, so speaking in terms of finesse and dimension, I’d choose Tess.”
Ultimately, Usher chooses Bria Kelly as the winner! But, in a surprise twist, Blake steals Tess!
