The Voice Season 4 Blind Auditions: Sarah Simmons Top Contestant

Last Night on the Season 4 premiere of NBC’s The Voice, Shakira and Usher made their debut as the new coaches, substituting for Christina Aguilera and Cee- Lo Green.

The new mentors fit right in with fellow mentors Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, while a slew of talented contestants took to The Voice stage.

While Judith Hill, who used to sing with Michael Jackson, stole the show with her off the charts performance of Christina Aguilera’s “What A Girl Wants,” it was time for day two of Blind Auditions.

Male model Josiah Hawley brilliantly covered Maroon 5’s “Sunday Morning.”

He got coaches Blake Shelton, Adam and Usher to turn their chairs.

Adam, who of course is the lead singer of Maroon 5, admitted to hearing qualities of his own voice in Hawley’s.

Ultimately, Hawley chose Usher as his coach.

The performance of the night has to go to Sarah Simmons, who sang Joan Osburne’s “One of Us.”
Her voice was absolutely sensational. She showcased her extraordinary vocal range as she took her time with the song, singing each note with incredible vocal control.

There was a wonderfully mysterious charm to her voice that is simply unparalleled.

Adam described Simmons’ performance as incredible. He stated: “ You 150% can win this show, I know you can.”

Shelton raved: “ You may be one of my top 3 favorite singers who ever auditioned for The Voice.”

Shakira discussed the amazing qualities of Simmons’ voice. She specifically said: “You have a “softness and sentiment to your voice, but at same time, there’s a really raspy and dirty quality with all the intensity required. This is what American radio needs today.”

Usher commended Simmons for singing with such conviction and passion.

The four judges fought hard, each trying to convince Simmons to pick one of them as her coach.

In the end, Simmons chose Adam!
