It’s another night of Blind Audition on NBC’s Season 7 of The Voice as coaches Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Gwen Stefani and Pharrell continue to search for talent.
Let’s dig deeper into some of the best blind auditions, including whose performance stole the night away!
Katriz Trinidad performs “At Last”
Fifteen-year-old Katriz Trinidad gave an incredibly powerful performance of “At Last.” Katriz’s vocal ability at such a young age is simply astonishing. She had so much control and did a fantastic job of coloring the song with beautifully executed runs.
Gwen, Blake and Pharrell all turned their chairs.
Pharrell says, “I never thought that I would find something I would be looking for on my own label. I have dreaming for an artist like you all my life. I want you on my team so bad! I’m on my knees!”
Blake says Katriz is born to be a star. He says she is so different and he believes she deserves to win the show.
Gwen says, “You are almost like a perfect singer. You hit a note that was so beautiful. It was mind blowing. The thing I would do with you is to help you perform more relaxed and unrehearsed.”
Katriz picks Team Pharrell!
Jean Kelley performs “Already Gone”
Jean Kelley did an excellent job of performing Kelly Clarkson’s “Already Gone.” It’s always a risk to cover a Kelly Clarkson song, but Jean did a fantastic job of changing up the song to fit her signature vocal ability and really just made the song her own.
Both Gwen and Blake turned at literally the last note of Jean’s performance.
Blake says, “I love your voice. When you hit that note and held it that long that let us know this is a for real singer. I need somebody like you on my team.”
Gwen says, “I can hear similarities in the tone of our voices, but you have all that range, which I don’t have.”
Jean ends up picking Team Gwen!
Chris Jamison “Gravity”
Twenty-year-old Pittsburgh native Chris Jamison gave a soulful performance of John Mayer’s “Gravity.” He sang with so much passion as he beautifully interchanged between his falsetto and full voice.
All four coaches turned their chairs!
Pharrell says, “I think you got lost in the moment and you let go and I wasn’t mad at that. I think with me, we spend time figuring out what you want do with you. Your voice is crazy.”
Adam says, “It was really emotional. You did so much. If you did eighty-five percent of what you did just now, it would have a greater impact on the audience.”
Gwen says, “You are a soul singer and there is something unique about that. I want to bring more of a signature sound out.”
Chris ends up picking Team Adam!
Toia Jones “One and Only”
Toia Jones put her own unique gospel/soulful flavor to her performance of “One and Only.” She showcased her crazy range and raspy tone as she gave one of the most emotional performances of the night.
Both Adam and Pharrell turned their chairs.
Pharrell says, “You sang from the heart. The canvas that you painted was so clear. I felt your spirit. I felt like you were singing with your life for your life.”
Adam says, “I heard you do this crazy beautiful perfect note. This just went from something really great to something that is going to make this show better.”
Ultimately, Toia chose Team Pharrell!
Jonathan Wyndham ”Say Something”
The performance that stole the night away definitely has to go to twenty-two-year-old Jonathan Wyndham, who sang “Say Something.”
His tone was beyond gorgeous! We loved how he took his time to build up to his higher range. Despite being visibly nervous, he showed an incredible amount of vocal control and clearly seemed emotionally connected to the lyrical content of the song.
Jonathan got a four-chair turn around for his performance.
Gwen says, “I loved how sincere it sounded. You started off with a lot of control, but yet not because the emotion came through. It kept getting stronger and stronger. I think it would be really fun to work together. I feel like you sing with a lot of emotion. One thing I think I can add is help you stage presence wise.”
Adam says, “It’s a very dramatic song. It’s a delicate vulnerability that I loved about your voice and that combined with you being nervous. I think this is a small portion of who you are and I wanna see more.”
Pharrell says, “You have an interesting tone and then the conviction on top of that. I heard sincerity and it became your song. I think you should be very proud of yourself.”
Blake says, “Country music is about stories and in order to tell that story you gotta be two-hundred percent invested in the lyric. You could feel the desperation in your voice.”
Jonathan ends up picking Team Adam!
