The Voice Season 7 Night 2 Blind Auditions Recap

It’s Night 2 of the Blind Auditions on NBC’s The Voice as Gwen Stefani and Pharrell join Adam Levine and Blake Shelton as Season 7 coaches.

Last night’s auditions proved that the talent on Season 7 is fierce. Tonight once again proved just that, especially when it came down to tonight’s final performance.

Let’s get right into recapping some of the best Blind Auditions of the night.

Danica Shirey “Big White Room”

R&B and soul singer Danica Shirey gave a flawless performance of “Big White Room.” Her pitch perfect voice was so incredibly soothing as she filled the song with impeccable runs.

Adam instantly turned his chair followed by Gwen and Pharrell. At the end of her performance, all three coaches gave Danica a standing ovation.

Adam says, “You could tell that the audience wanted to clap more, but they were kinda all in shock and you could feel jaws drop to the floor like ours were. I think you have one of the best voices I’ve heard in a long time.”

Gwen praises Danica for her incredible voice and chilling vibrato.

Pharrell, who compares Danica to a snake charmer, says she has incredible technique and was completely lured by her. Pharrell pleads, “ Will you please be on my team. I know what to do with that voice.”

Danica ends up picking Pharrell!

Joe Kirk performs “Lego House”

17 year-old Joe Kirk got a four-chair turn around for his performance of Ed Sheeran’s “Lego House.” He performed the song with such effortlessness and ease.

Pharrell says, “ Technically you’re a beast. I just want to hear your melodic story and personality.”

Adam says, “I like your whole vibe. I feel like you’re my little brother. You were having the time of your life up there. I’m blown away by you. Wow.”

Gwen says, “I thought you were amazing. I loved the tone of you voice. You have crazy rhythm. I would love for you to be on my team.”

Joe ends up picking Adam!

Reagan Jane performs “Give Me Love”

15-year-old Regan Jane put an individualized twist to her performance of Ed Sheeran’s “Give Me Love.” She did such an amazing job of really making the song her own with her distinctly recognizable tone.

Both Gwen and Blake turned their chairs.

Gwen says that Regan is clearly born with a God given gift.

Blake says, “I know what it takes to shine the right light on an artist and sometimes that means ending up in winner’s circle. I loved the mix of falsetto and full voice. You are so unique and different. We haven’t heard anybody like you on The Voice. You are very special.”

Ultimately, Reagan picks Blake!

Taylor Phelan performs “Sweater Weather”

Taylor is another contestant who receives a four-chair turn around for his epic performance of “Sweater Weather.” Taylor showcased his true artistic talent by seamlessly revealing his alternative rock stylistic tone.

All four coaches gave a standing ovation for his performance.

Adam says, “I was early to turn my chair. You have awesome happy feet. You are different and really know about music. You’re awesome!”

Gwen says, “I forgot I was on The Voice. I felt like I was at a festival. It would be really fun to work together.”

Pharrell says, “It felt like the guitar was part of your body. You were so melodically articulate. You belong on my team.”

Blake says, “I’ve never seen someone be so completely locked in. You can pretty much do anything. You’re a great singer.”

Taylor ends up picking Pharrell!

Maiya Sykes performs “Stay With Me”

The performance of the night has to go to powerhouse vocalist Maiya Sykes. Her voice is that of a legend. Her versatile range and precise technique is perfection. She sang the song with so much passion and really excelled in singing the story embedded within the song. Oh gosh and those high notes she hit towards the end of the song were mind blowing!

Blake says, “You just made my day. I think you can win this show, I really do.”

Pharrell, who was up on his feet throughout her performance, says, “When you sing there is a conviction. I’m so interested in who you are personally and that’s the story that I want to amplify. I’m only going to push your ambitions.”

Gwen says, “Your voice is ridiculous. What I can do is help with clothes and fashion. You need someone to bring out your personal style.”

Adam says, “Even though you are that good, I want to make sure that we don’t take your talent for granted and that we push you.”

Maiya ends up choosing Pharrell!

Well, that does it for our recap! Don’t forget that you can purchase all of tonight’s performances via iTunes.
