The Voice: Semi-Finals Take Shape | Amanda & Melanie Gone

Tonight’s result show of NBC’s The Voice featured a double elimination, narrowing down the Top 6 to the Top 4 contestants.

The night started off with a killer performance by R&B sensation Ne-Yo and our always lovable soulful rocker Amanda Brown as they sang Ne-Yo’s hit song “Let Me Love You.” Brown sounded amazing as she sang with the always entertaining Ne-Yo. Ne-Yo offered a great vocal as well combined with a slick MJ-inspired dance routine.

The night was also filled with a slew of lovely duets between the contestants. Melanie Martinez and Nicholas David gave a stellar performance of Fiona Apple’s “Criminal.”

Those two sounded so great together. Host Carson Daly pointed out it was a song Christina actually suggested Martinez should have sang the night before for one of her solo performances.

After hearing her cover that song, I could not agree more. Martinez was so giddy and really seemed connected to the song, which was so nice to see.

Cassadee Pope and Amanda Brown also sang a beautiful duet together covering Kelly Clarkson’s “Breakaway,” while Terry McDermott and Trevin Hunte not only sang One Republic’s “Feel Again, but also joined MatchBox 20 to sing “Overjoyed.”

Amongst the plethora of enjoyable performances came this weeks round of double eliminations.

Unfortunately, it was not a good night for Team Adam.

The first to be eliminated was the adorable indie-folk singer Melanie Martinez. Moments later, powerhouse vocalist Amanda Brown was eliminated as well.

Coach Adam now joins Christina in having no more contestants left on his team.

The semi-finals leaves Cassadee Pope and Terry McDermott on Team Blake and Trevin Hunte and Nicholas David on Team Cee-lo.

Did America get it right with this week’s eliminations? Any early predictions as to who will be crowned the winner of Season 3’s The Voice?
