I’m still recovering from Trevin Hunte’s epic performance from last week, in which he nailed Jennifer Hudson’s “And I’m Telling You.”
Tonight, Hunte once again delivered a masterful rendition. This time it was Bette Midler’s “Wind Beneath My Wings.”
The way in which he approached the song must be applauded.
He started the song with a simple, yet beautiful vocal in a lower key. He then smoothly changed to a higher key, adorning the song with breathe-taking runs and trills.
He sings with such vigor and profound vibrato. The notes this dude hits are unbelievable. He gives me the chills! He blows my mind every time he steps on stage.
Seriously, I’m so thankful to this kid for sharing his God-given gift with the world as his voice overwhelmingly ignites sheer joy.
Christina praised Hunte for taking the song to a whole other level, while Cee-lo emphasized Hunte’s growth in the competition, noting how he has become more polished and refined and more certain of himself. He then ended stating: “Your voice is always a pleasure to hear. It is so amazingly beautiful.”
Fellow Team Cee-lo competitor Nicholas David also gave a stunning performance. David sang Joe Cocker’s “You Are So Beautiful To Me.” It is evident this man eats, breathes, and sleeps soul music. Come on now, is he not the soul patrol of season 3’s The Voice as Taylor Hicks was to season 5’s American Idol?!
David got rave reviews from the judges. Adam described David as “just one of the most soulful people I’ve ever met,” and told him “I really like you.”
Cee-lo complimented David for looking handsome tonight, while further emphasizing how heartfelt and beautiful his performance was.
Team Blake contender Cassadee Pope gave a stellar performance of Keith Urban’s “Stupid Boy,” which has already shot up to number 1 on iTunes! This is Pope’s second time hitting the number one spot on iTunes – the first being when Pope covered coach Blake Shelton’s “Over You.”
I have to admit that Pope is really good at taking country songs and making them hers by adding a signature pop rock twist. My predication is that she will be one of the final two in the competition.
Fellow Team Blake contestant Terry McDermott gave a fantastic performance of The Beatles’ “Let it Be.” Yes, I know no one can touch the Beatles, but McDermott did his ‘thangg’ while covering this song. He is definitely one of the best male rocker’s from all three seasons of The Voice. Oh, and McDermott too is currently ranking number 3 on the iTunes chart.
My fingers are crossed that Trevin Hunte will win the whole competition, but it seems like Cassadee Pope is the fan favorite to win, especially due to her constant ability to stay on top of the iTunes chart.
Who do you think will make it to the Top 3? Any early predication on who will win Season 3’s The Voice?
