AMC announced today they are going to launch a new The Walking Dead spinoff.
“It’s a big world and we can’t wait to give fans another unforgettable view of the zombie apocalypse,” said Charlie Collier, AMC’s president and general manager.
AMC has proved through The Walking Dead webisodes that there are many storylines available. After all, the zombie apocalypse is a worldwide event. The opportunities to expand the story are limitless.
In a statement, AMC pointed out that The Walking Dead is the number 1 show on TV among adults 18 to 49 years old. Collier said building on the success of the show “is literally a no-brainer.”
While some fans are excited about the new series, others are concerned.
A user with the ID jingles13 posted a comment on AMCs blog saying “…making a sequel.?? I don’t see how that won’t take away from the Original??? Your really scaring me now AMC..!!”
Other Walking Dead fans have “liked” the comment and others have said they agree.
Another fan ID’d as “Mareah” wrote “I can’t imagine TWD any better than it already is. I think they should focus on the monster hit they have. (JMHO).”
AMC stated that the target date for the series is 2015.
