The Year of Luigi | New Wii U & 3DS Games W/Release Dates Revealed

The Year of Luigi | New Wii U & 3DS Games W/Release Dates Revealed

Nintendo has revealed all new games for the 3DS and Wii U this year.

In the January 14 Nintendo Direct video, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata declared 2013 the year of Luigi.

After briefly covering Luigi’s lack of main character roles through the history of Nintendo, a number of upcoming titles for the Wii U and 3DS were introduced.

Perhaps the largest piece of Wii U news was about a downloadable update for New Super Mario Bros. U, called New Super Luigi U.

It appears that the new update essentially doubles the size of the original game.  New Super Luigi U makes Luigi a playable character and completely redesigns all the levels in the game.

There has not been any release date supplied.

Also, Wii Street U, a console based version of Google Street View will be available for free download for a limited time only.

A number of new releases and free downloads were announced for the 3DS.  The first additional map for Fire Emblem Awakening can be downloaded for free until March 6.  After this date the map will cost $2.
