Another Thursday night marks another elimination round on Season 12 of American Idol.

The Top 9 contestants kicked the night off by performing “Got To Get You Into My Life.”

The result show was filled with the return of a couple of Idol alums.

Season 10’s Casey Abrams performed a Beatles classic “I Saw Her Standing There.”

Then, Season 11 runner-up Jessica Sanchez returned to the Idol stage to perform her newly released single “Tonight” featuring Ne-Yo. The dance-pop song is pretty catchy and really showcases Sanchez’s powerhouse vocals.

Alright, now finally it’s result time!

Lazaro Arbos, Kree Harrison, Candice Glover, Angie Miller, Janelle Arthur, Burnell Taylor are all declared safe.

The bottom 3 ends up being Paul Jolley, Devin Velez, and Amber Holcomb.

Both Randy Jackson and Nicki Minaj express their shock on Holcomb being in the Bottom 3.

Jackson states: “I’m really shocked that Amber’s in the bottom three. I can’t believe that.”
Minaj in complete agreement admits, “I definitely think Amber should not be in the bottom three… That’s common sense.”

In the end, Paul Jolley received the lowest amount of votes. He sings Heart’s “Alone” for the judges’ one save of the season. However, his performance does not save him as he is ultimately eliminated tonight.
