Is Abraham the next member of the group to die? Will Daryl be the reason he does?
Yes and Yes…. maybe.
*Spoilers- do not read on if you are not caught up with the show or the comics- unless you really want to know.
On last night’s episode of TWD (Ep.6, “Always Accountable”) fans saw Daryl’s (Norman Reedus) crossbow get stolen from a drifter and his girlfriend.
While it was upsetting to see Daryl lose his crossbow (for him and us) it didn’t seem to be that big of an event- but it was, bigger than most fans realize.
Why? Because that “drifter” is actually Dwight, a member of Negan’s Saviors and the man who ends up killing Abraham (Michael Cuditz)- with a crossbow.
And while another group could conceivably have a crossbow, it would be too much of a coincidence, especially considering how much fans identify it with Daryl.
It would be like someone else showing up with a katana like Michonne: it wouldn’t work.
So the fact that Daryl’s crossbow is gone (because he decided to help these people) is a good sign that either Abe, or another member of the group, is going to be killed with it.
Maybe Rick’s right: in this new world helping others can get you killed.
Think about it: if Daryl had not gone back to help these people, who shot at him and tied him up earlier in the episode, none of this happens.
so in a sense, Daryl’s act of kindness could cause Abraham’s death-assuming showrunner Scott M. Gimple doesn’t throw us a curve.
Now no one has confirmed the drifter is actually Dwight, but there is enough information to prove that he is.
Fist, the character, who is referred to as D, fits the description of Dwight (before the iron scar).
Second, the group he was with, or trying to get away from, fits the Saviors- who we know are coming.
Finally, and most importantly, Austin Amelio, who plays D, tweeted he is back on set filming the season 6 finale (where Negan makes his appearance), which pretty much confirms it.
The question now is: will Gimple stick to the comics and make Abraham the victim or switch it to someone else?
Could go either way, but my hunch is it will be Abe.
Gimple has stuck to Abe’s story so far, including last night when he had Abe attempt to cheat on Rosita with Sasha.
The only difference being in the comics he cheats with Holly (who died on the show).
