Usher & Blake Make Shocking Cuts on The Voice’s Knockout Round

Now that the Battle Rounds are over, it’s time for the Knockout Rounds on NBC’s The Voice. Half of the artists in each team will move to the live shows, leaving the coaches with four contestants each.

Team Adam and Team Shakira kicked off Monday night’s knockout rounds.

Coach Adam cut down his contestants to these final four: Amber Carrington, Judith Hill, Caroline Glaser & Sarah Simmons.

Team Shakira’s final four include: Garrett Gardner, Kris Thomas, Karina Iglesias & Sasha Allen.

The two standout performances on Monday night’s knockout round definitely go to Team Adam’s Judith Hill and Team Shakira’s Sasha Allen.

On Tuesday Night’s Knockout Round, it was time for Team Usher and Team Blake to fight for spots in next week’s live performances.

Let’s dig a tad deeper into each knockout performance.

Team Blake: Justin Rivers vs. Savannah Berry
Our heart’s melted during Savannah’s blind audition when she performed a hauntingly beautiful rendition of Taylor Swift ft. The Civil War’s “Safe & Sound.” During her knockout round performance she did a great job of adding a country twist to Justin Bieber’s “As Long As You Love Me.” However, the performance was evidently not good enough as Blake decided to choose Justin Rivers, who performed Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb.” We gotta say, we were a bit shocked about this decision!

TEAM Usher: Josiah Hawley vs. Jess Kellner
The oh so sexy hunky model Josiah Hawley put a uniquely special twist to Amy Winehouse’s “Back To Black,” while the adorable Texas native Jess Kellner gave a solid performance of James Morrison’s “You Give Me Something.” While her voice did seem to crack a bit under pressure, her undeniably distinct and tender tone must be praised. Usher feels “the grit” in Josiah’s performance and ultimately chooses him over Jess to continue on to the next round.

Team Blake’s Holly Tucker vs. Luke Edgemon
Holly Tucker is definitely one of the strongest country singers in the competition and she once again proved just that as she sang Tim McGraw’s “Live Like You Were Dying.” Although we have to give mad props to Luke Edgemon’s edgy R&B twist to Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream,” Blake ended up choosing Holly.

Team Usher’s Audrey Karrasch vs. Michelle Chamuel
Interesting song choice by Audrey, who decided to sing Lil Wayne’s “How to Love.” The risky song choice wasn’t really working for us. Audrey unfortunately sounded shaky throughout her performance. However, Michelle really shined as she performed Pink’s “Raise Your Glass” with immense energy and displayed a strong vocal. Usher ends up choosing Michelle!

Team Blake: Danielle Bradbery vs. Taylor Beckham
16-year old Danielle Bradbery, who is the youngest contestant this season, stunned all four judges during her unforgettable blind audition. She once again gave a strong delivery of Carrie Underwood’s Jesus Take The Wheel.” We are usually hesitant when a contestant chooses to sing an Underwood song, but Bradbery succeeded in singing the song with a sense of pureness and strength. The former gymnast, Taylor Beckham, struggled vocally through her performance of Rihanna’s “Russian Roulette. Sad to see, as we were pretty impressed with her previous performances. Blake ultimately chooses Danielle!

Team Usher’s C. Perkins vs. Vedo
Usher’s R&B singers were up against each other in this round. C. Perkins took a risk by choosing to sing Chris Brown’s “She Ain’t You.” Perkins chose to focus more on pumping up the crowd, which may have contributed to a poor delivery in vocals. On the other hand, Vedo’s emotional performance of “Everything I Do (I Do It For You)” stole Usher’s heart as Vedo is chosen to move to the next round.

Team Blake’s Grace Askew vs. The Swon Brothers
It’s a true country battle between Grace Askew and The Swon Brothers duo. Grace decides to show her soulful side as she sings Tina Turner’s “I Can’t Stand The Rain.” However it’s the Swon Brother’s cover of Dobie Gray’s “Drift Away” that catches Blake’s attention, sending the brothers to the next round!

Team Usher’s Cathia vs. Ryan Innes
Last but not least, we get one of the toughest battles of the night. Latina singer Cathia decided to sing an English song for the first time in the competition. She gives a powerful performance of Kelly Clarkson’s Mr. Know It All.” Cathia gave the perfect amount of sass as she sang the song with incredible stage presence and tremendous vocal command. Soul singer Ryan Innes stole our hearts and impressed all four judges during his blind audition performance of John Mayer’s Gravity. This time, he decided to show a rocker side as he performed Gavin DeGraw’s “I Don’t Wanna Be.” Although not our favorite performance by the soul singer, Ryan has been a front-runner ever since his blind audition. Although Cathia did have a stronger knockout performance, we still had our fingers crossed for Ryan. However, Usher shocks us and ends up choosing Cathia (who he stole from Shakira in the battle round) as his final contestant.

So there you have it folks! The Knockout Rounds are officially over!
