Wal-Mart is issuing a recall of two million electric heaters it has sold due to a risk of fire and burns.
The retail giant has joined with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to issue a statement regarding the current recall. The company says the recall affects 2.2 million electric heaters under the Flow Pro, Airtech, Aloha Breeze and Comfort Essentials brand names. These units were sold from 2001 to 2009.
The statement warned that the heaters have the ability to malfunction. This could cause the unites to have problems with overheating, smoking, burning, melting and fire.
So far Wal-Mart has had four injury reports from the heaters. They involved minor burns and smoke inhalation. There have also been eleven reports of property damage.
Consumers are urged to immediately discontinue use of these units and return them to the store for a refund.
